Jess Badley FCIPD is Head of HR & OD at Blood Cancer UK. She has devised and led the work to ensure Blood Cancer UK offers world-class wellbeing support to its employees. Jess is particularly interested in the links between wellbeing, agile working and innovation and has transformed Blood Cancer UK’s culture and approach towards work in the 21st century. Employee input and wellbeing are at the heart of this strategy. Jess’s efforts have encouraged a more agile and inclusive mindset throughout the organisation. The focus is now on empowering teams to explore and find the work experience that allows each person to thrive and achieve the best results. This is partly accomplished by inviting employees to determine their preferred work environment and pattern.
Since Jess joined Blood Cancer UK, the charity has been ranked as the 9th best charity to work for in the UK by Best Companies in 2021, awarded 3 stars by Best Companies in 2021 for world class levels of engagement, and was awarded a Silver Stevie Award for Most Valuable HR Team - Europe in 2020. Jess’s background and experience is across the charity and education sectors, but her successful innovations can be applied across sectors. She is also an independent expert workplace verifier for the Mayor of London’s Healthy Workplace Award, a trustee for Yes Futures, and acts as mentor for the CIPD mentoring schemes in London and Essex.
